How to be safe in dublin. 

Even though Ireland is a Beautiful place. However, it has a Dark side as well. 
Gangs and drugs have ruined the beauty of dublin, Plus law protecting children, has given to some teeager to do whatever they like, who has the support of their parents too, or maybe they do not care at all. In that case your protection in Dublin, is in your hand, As police can do very little in those kinds of cases, What they can do at max, is to brind the teeager to his parents and complain about them. Only in big crimes, they can be presented in juvenile court. 

Universal advice - Do not go in dodgy areas and avoid Dark areas at night, Get a taxi if possible if you have to be in that area. 

In Ireland many people do not know the number for emergency services, So you should Keep guards number on the speed dial, Which is  112 or 999. Both numbers are free to dial and 112 numbers also work in europe. 

Avoid scammers on the street and online.
Never buy phones or electric stuff from unknown people from street, which seems like a very good deal but can be scam call, some time scammer try to get you in the corner and get the knife out to rob you, or sometime simply 
Get a house in safe areas.

On the north side of the Liffey river, all the districts have Odd numbers, and even numbers in the south. Generally the South Side is considered to be much safer than North.

In the end I would also suggest getting some ip cameras outside your house or may on the entrance, So that if something happens then you got your bum covered, sometime if robbers see cameras, they might hesitate a bit before proceeding
Tips if you happen to be in a Bad area then avoid leaving your windows open. Close the doors  properly, As in some cases, thieves come in and get the car keys and boom, You lost your car. Prefer apartments than houses, As apartments have their own parking mostly and much safer than houses because of security gates.  And get a car if possible on comprehensive insurance.
